..and also that they're really really pretty! I miss you girls.

In other news:
Woke up very leisurely with the hubby, went for a run, and headed to Arcata...
Farmers market was really awesome! I picked up a whole bunch of the "Weekly Veggie" and I can't wait to get started.
Our afternoon ended with sunshine, refreshments, puppies, and hangout time with my lovely friend R.
Hope you're all enjoying the weekend so far.

Project Runway snacks: Two different Cheezes, Cucumber slices w/ Dolma stuffing, and Carrots
Two different Cheezes, Cucumber slices w/ Dolma stuffing, and sliced Carrots

Last night's snack plate for Project Runway/Girl time.
Thank you C and R for cheering me up, and letting me feed you! I've been without quality "girl time" for so long, I forgot how important and theraputic it is.

Cheers to Friday the 13th - and to my nephews 3rd Birthday!

Another weekend has come and gone.
We managed to enjoy ourselves quite a bit, and on Sunday the reward for lots of gardening and yardwork was a barbeque with a couple of good friends. After filling our tummys with really good food, we all Hula-Hooped and proceeded to laugh at ourselves until most of the calories were burnt off. Wonderful fun!

The weather has been so beautiful, and since this is our first "real" house, with a big (fully fenced in) back yard, I just can't seem to get enough of being outside --- and neither can Lucy.
Cows, Lucy, and food...this-a-way... )

Things I'm looking forward to this Summer:

- A fully landscaped backyard (it's in progress right now), complete with an outdoor dining area, gazebo, and *fingers crossed* hottub.
- Badmitten!!
- Sunbathing (with sunblock, of course)
- BBQ's galore - and entertaining friends and family
- Tons of music events
- Camping!!
Oh I could go on and on....

So far this weekend is turning out to be a lovely one.

This morning I woke up reeeeally early with D (6:30 - that's way too early for the weekend). He went to work and I actually got out of bed, went for a quick 1 mile run, did an hour of pilates, cleaned up around the house, and ate a yummy breakfast .
By the time breakfast was in my belly I realized that the day was flying by, and it was almost time to head over to the ball park to watch my friends two boys play their baseball game. Sadly the mini-Dodgers lost to the mini- Orioles, but it was fun to cheer them on (even though I didn't get to stay for the whole game).
One of my favorite things to do is watch kids sports durning the summer time. I just LOVE to cheer for them and watch the serious expressions on their little faces. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited to see the mini-Dodgers play another game. It's also pretty awesome that they're representing mine and D's favorite team --- even if they lose again, it's okay with me.

After the ball game I met up with D and did some grocery shopping (I am so in love with the produce isle), and then to home to relax for a while.

At the moment I'm wearing my black-pink-and leopard-print apron, sipping on a big mug of green tea, there's a TON of food in the dehydrator, and I'm waiting for my sundried tomatoes to finish tenderizing (they're soaking in some warm water) so I can embark on a very exciting kitchen adventure: tonight's dinner! I think it's going to be really good too.

Tonight D's band has a show at the Alibi, so if you're in the neighborhood please come by and say hello! I'll be the girl at the merch table.

YAY.

It looks like Stacky and I will be embarking on a tiny road trip to Santa Rosa sometime within the next two weeks... to visit one of my bestist friends --- Carinna!!!
This is good. This is verrry good.

I can't wait to see you Mama-C, my sweet soul-mate/sister.

I think I may bring my guit-fiddle so I can play some of my new songs to C. She's one of the few people that I truly love singing for.

Fa la la la la.

P.S. Hi...

Cell phone pics aren't that bad... )
sarahfae: (dear diary)

This weekend has been a insanely busy.
We're actually done with Holiday parties...thank-freaking-god. But really, they've been wonderfully fun. D and I make spending time with our friends during the Holidays a major priority.
Next up: family time. Christmas Eve is going to be super special this year. I'll write more about that later though.

So today, as I was heading home from running errands I decided to take a different route than usual...and what did I see. A table and chairs in the front yard of someones house with a "free" sign on them. I know, I know, this sounds SO icky and white trash...I mean, to have a crap-load of stuff on your lawn with a free sign sitting on top of it. But in all honesty, this is just the kind of thing you see a lot of in our town.
So anyways, as I'm driving I see this table and chairs out of the corner of my eye and flip a bitch to check it out. After all, D and I are in desperate need to get a bigger/better table for our dining-room...and I'm not above taking a free-be from a front yard.
The table was AWESOME. The chairs not so much. So with one quick call B and C met me at the corner of 18th and Harrison, and just like that I got us a new dining-room table. Yay. It seats eight [six comfortably], and with a little tlc it's going to be the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends and family. I'll show it off soon.

After the table adventure B and C convinced me to tag along with them on a quick trip up to Kneeland to find some snow. Once the snow was located [at the Kneeland elementary school] we threw a ton of snowballs, swung on the swings, and because D was busy with work and band practice, built a snowman in his honor:

I cooked a yummy, not very pretty looking dinner tonight --- but I took pictures!
I'm too lazy to get the recipe (that's ALL the way in the kitchen --- plus D and I are watching Ghost Hunters), so I'll post it in either a comment response, or I'll edit this post later. Also, I've decided to start up with some serious raw foodism again. Breakfasts and Lunch will be devoted to all raw, and dinner-time will be at least half and half (cooked and raw). I need to eventually get back on the 90% or more all-raw lifestyle because the results were amazing when I was committed. It's time.

This-a-way for food... )

Also, I have to add a HUGE congrats to my bff in the whole-wide-world Jenn, and her hubby Ant. I know another boy is kind of a scary thought (what with the three you already have), but I have NO doubt in my mind that you are good for it. That little baby boy is so fortunate to have such awesome parents, and big brothers too. I can't wait to meet him! Rub your belly for me girlie!This-a-way for food... )
sarahfae: (drink time)

...should always begin like today.

Sharing a hot cup of black and mint tea, and a big bowl of sliced oranges with a sweet friend.
Lucy and Kona have a play date while C is in class. After they did their tussling and bouncing around [there's really no hiding how much they love each other], they've settled into "quiet time", both with a bone and lying on separate blankets next to one another. Of course I had to snap a pic of their cuteness.

OMG BFF's 4EVAR )

Well...

The kitchen is clean.
The fridge is packed full of leftovers that will be divied up between random friends throughout the next few days.
The puppy and kitties are snug in their respective sleeping areas.
The 50's XM channel is rocking softly in the background.
...Lola is chewing on some plastic-wrap underneath the computer desk right by my feet....not anymore though...

Thanks to all of our wonderful friends who came out to celebrate the Holiday with us. It was perfect because of you guys!

Pics to come...
sarahfae: (Default)

Things have been so busy lately that I haven't had anytime to post pics -- in spite of the fact that I've taken so many.

D and I went to the pumpkin patch a week before Halloween with our friends Lindsey and Brillo, and their adorable little boy Asher (I call him Thrasher). We always have a good time hanging out with them, but I've got the pics to prove it...

Oh man - I wish nappa cabbage was in season all year round. I seriously love it so much that I'd marry it, if I weren't already committed to an awesome guy (who brought me home pretty flowers tonight).

This wonderful cabbage served as the "Taco" portion of my dinner tonight...raw tacos...ohhh yum!
It all starts with a wonderful, and super quick&easy "onion-less pico de gallo" (onion-less because I forgot the onion! hehe!)

And I have to give a photo shout out to [profile] v_gan because when I was chopping up the bell pepper for dinner, and got to the end of it, lo and behold!:

Mickey Mouse! I almost put a little face on it - but I think I would've felt a little weird about chopping it up if I'd have done that.

Is anyone else having a problem with their wireless AT&T HSI connection running super fucking slow tonight??
Go figure, it's on the night when I can't fall asleep, and have to wake up early tomorrow morning.

J came over after getting off of work tonight, and I surprised her with a foot soak and some munchies (left over guac, hummus, salsa, and a mix of chips). We drank wine and vegetated in front of the teli. I love the girl time that I've been frequently  having, and I'm trying to encourage D to go out and have a boys night soon - he gets so busy with chores sometimes that it worries me...not that I'm a lazy bum, but I see how he'll get caught up in a project, and at the end of that project he'll move right on to another one. He doesn't give himself time to relax until he's completely burnt out, and that can often result in an over exhausted grumpy husband.
On a similar yet more active note:
We had a nice time with Deric, Kurtis and J last night - an unexpected casual dinner developed on our living room floor - and carried on until 10pm. We haven't had much desire to "go out" over the last few months, so it's been nice to finally have more space. I can't wait for the actual housewarming party - it seems a bit overdue.

- David, if you think you're going to end up in Humboldt pleasepleaseplease let me know so that I can possibly have a little soiree of sorts planned. It could end up being a roudy event, so let me know if that's unappealing to you. I'm just really hoping to see you!

Work has been incredible.
I think I'm finally out of the gray that I let myself sink into - and it feels good. It's not always easy for me to admit my weaknesses, but these last few months have been heavily laden with icky depression of sorts, seeing now that anything I create I can overcome - and I have definitely created the stumbling block that made me doubt myself.

And the award goes to...
D, who chimed in early on, saying: "You really value the things that you have to work hard for. If everything is just handed to you how can you really know what you're capable of? I know you can do anything you set your mind to, I've seen it happen."
Also, I'd like to give a shout out to myself - for hearing the loving words of my husband, while I sat on my bum and told him that I wanted to be taken care of and I didn't want to have to work anymore.
Listen to the ones who love you and speak to you in that love.

I'm gonna finish this Pinot, and head to dream land.
I get to hang out in Redway, Garberville and Covelo tomorrow...weee!
