Raw Hummus version 2.0 - a do-over

There's nothing like going over your old recipes and re-doing them, only to have them turn out better in taste and health too.
I'll be doing a lot of this over the coming weeks and months, in an effort to eliminate two ingredients that have seemed to dominate my kitchen: Braggs Liquid Aminos, and Agave Nectar.
Here's a recent re-dux, involving my favorite lunchtime (or anytime) snack: "No-Chickpea" Hummus - The redux? No Walnuts, no Agave, no Braggs Liquid Aminos, and additional spices...and the change, to me, is HUGE in a good way.

Date: 2009-09-10 12:29 am (UTC)it's just such a bummer that food companies can get away with falsely labeling their products as a "raw" food. definitely turns me off to buying prepackaged spices and such.

Date: 2009-09-10 01:05 am (UTC)I know some people are able to find fresh, raw chickpeas at farmers markets. I might try having one of my friends grow some next year. I've never seen them grown around here (Austin) to my knowledge...

Date: 2009-09-10 01:31 am (UTC)i know that like most legumes you can soak and sprout them and they are okay to eat from there. chickpeas have always tended to give me gastrointestinal issues so i've just had to avoid eating them in general.
i'd love to know if you ever get around to making hummus with raw chickpeas!
keep me posted!
