Real Mobsters

So after much begging and pleading (not really) D finally got his way this afternoon and had Direct TV/HDTV/NFL ticket installed this afternoon.
What am I most excited about with this change?
The XM music channels we get! But most of all....the 40's and 50's music that I'm tuned into right now! It's hooked up to our surround sound, so I couldn't be happier! I never have to play another CD ever again!

Last night I gave all of our pets mobster names (inspired by my Dick Tracy comics) - so, without further ado, I give you the Furry Mobster Clan:

Lola, aka: Scratches McGee
(because she's a vicous scratcher - violent even!)


Silver, aka: Bonesy Berkowitz 
(because the poor girl has arthritis, and she's a very skinny mama -regardless of how much she eats)


Flower, aka: Mama Capone
(because, well, she's the big Mama of the roost)


And who could forget...
Lucy, aka: Baby face Malone
(Because she's da baby girl...and look at that mug!)

A weekend afternoon

I love it when it's Saturday and I think it's Sunday - and then I remember that it's Saturday! It's a good feeling inside to know that I've got another day off to enjoy.

We took Lucy for a car ride, and headed down to the Shanty for an afternoon cocktail, and also to pick up two free tickets to the fair (tomorrow's the last day) courtesy of our wonderful friend and bartender, Todd.
When we got home I had an unusual craving for something sweet - so I whipped up a quick and SUPER easy batch of sorbet. Oopsie though - I made too much - so I ended up turning the leftovers into popsicles for another day. 
After the sorbet I decided to make some cashew and almond butter. I had to keep myself from eating it all because it was sooooo yummy!

Shake, rattle, and roll!

Whoa!! There was just an earthquake...and boy did it catch me and D off guard! My heart is still in my throat.
