I was doing a bit of thinking last night - about social drinking and alternatives to alcohol at parties and events.
Then it came to me: Tea Parties!!
I want to start hosting/throwing them - and on a somewhat regular basis. I mean, why not? I LOVE throwing events, and I think I'm a really good party planner.
With enough planning I think I'll have the wherewithal to throw a fabulous Tea Party by mid summer. First things first though, I have to start building a collection of tea pots. for this I'll be hitting up a bunch of thrift stores over the coming weekend.
I'm so excited!!

This is a cute site I stumbled upon that I'll be stealing ideas from - Tea Party Girl

Something I forgot to post earlier...
I found the greatest pair of chairs on craigslist the other day, and the price was right --- so I stuffed them in the back of my car and took them to their new home. They fit perfectly in a corner of our dining room that I've been wanting to convert into a sitting area. And so my collection of vintage/retro furniture grows!

Wow. The last few days have been nothing short of crazy.
At the moment I'm sitting in the peace and quiet of our messy home, not wanting to do anything but listen to myself breathe. I'm a little bit down today too. No reason in particular - most likely I'm just crashing from a very busy weekend.
Thursday night was D's birthday, so we met up with six of our friends and had Tepanyaki at The Ritz. After wards we headed over to the Shanty for some cocktails - and ended up staying out much later than planned.

Friday I cleaned the house for most of the morning, went shopping with Jen, and in the evening had an impromptu birthday party for D - about eighteen friends showed up for that - and lots of Sangria was consumed by yours truly.

Last night we met up with Jen at the Pearl for a quick drink, and after wards D and I were treated to the latest play at the NCRT - "Marat/Sade" (thank you Todd&Laura!). I was really stoked to finally Josh perform, and pleasantly surprised to see my old friend Silas on the stage as well. I would definitely see this play again - and highly recomend it!

Now we're off to watch the game at Brillo and Lyndsey's.
Tomorrow I officially start my new job! Hootie-hoo!
I'm excited!

Thanksgiving was a complete hit - minus the stress of food/party prep. It was wonderful having a mix of family and friends, lots of laughter, and even a few happy tears.
I think that D and I pulled off being quite the domestically blissful Thanksgiving husband and wife. And we've got the leftovers to prove it. If anyony wants to come over for a snack this weekend there's still a plethora of vegan and non-vegan eats.

At the moment I'm sitting on my couch, listening to Nat King Cole sing "Mrs. Santa Claus", sipping on a cold beverage, and starring at our Christmas tree (I named him George).
Yep.
D and I couldn't wait to get our tree, so we spent all day ringing in the Yule-tide cheer - while creating a couple of our own holiday traditions. George sits right in front of our huge living room window, so people can see the tree as they drive by our house...a silly thing I've always wanted to have since I was small.
My little snowy village is set up on the piano, the candles are a glow - and before we decorated the tree we both danced in the kitchen, took a shot of our hard alcohol of choice, I strung the lights (white ones this year - my fav), and D put the star on the top. We finished decorating the tree together and listened to Christmas music - the old timey kind...my favorite.
Thank you to Andrew, Jess and Jude for our first "Foster's" Christmas tree ornament. We love it - and it fits our home perfectly.

Now we get to plan our house-warming/holiday party!!!! I am really excited about this - and so is D!! The theme will guarantee fun for all, I promise!

Time to get ready for a night out.
