Last night was a big success! I swear, if I could get paid full time to do hair and make-up for local school plays I'd be the happiest woman in the world. Seriously, all of those kids are so amazing, talented, smart, and very-very unique...this is why charter schools make sense. They create such a wonderful atmosphere where kids can be one hundred percent themselves, fully excepted, and fully encouraged --- which is sadly something that is next to impossible to get from a regular high school. Individuality is such a beautiful thing to see in kids. I would've loved to go to a Charter school when I was younger, instead of regular ol' christian home-school.

While I was doing hair in the dressing room a short blond specticle wearing twelve-year-old named Hudson (who has quickly become my new favorite person) started chatting it up with me, grabbing a big bottle of gross hair gel he said abruptly:
"You know, this just animal fat floating in liquid."
I asked him if he was going to play the part of Benjamin Button.
He went on:
"I'm taking Algebra 3 and I'm only in seventh grade."
I told him that my little brother, who is five years younger than me was learning Trigonometry when I was just starting pre Algebra.
"Yeah, that's me alright."
I asked him what his goals were when he finished school - did he have any career choices yet?
"I'm going to be a software developer and analyst for Google" - very assertively.
He then went into surprisingly extreme detail about how well Google treats their employees...I knew most of what he was telling me, but not everything.
I told him that I wouldn't be surprised if he got a job working for them right out of high school.
He nodded his head in agreement.
I asked him again if he was going to be playing the part of Benjamin Button.
No response.

Somewhere towards the end of my hair and make-up duties I ended up singing show tunes with three or four of the cast members from the play, helping them with the words to "Sixteen going on Seventeen" from the Sound of Music.

Gosh I love working with kids. Charter schools are AWESOME. I'm going to compose a thank you letter to the school and offer my services to them anytime they should need me in the future. I may even mention teaching an un-cooking class...
