QUESTION:
Why Raw Vegan? asking as someone considering a diet change :)
ANSWER:
Thank you for asking….boy oh boy…where do I start?
First of all I can *only* speak for myself on this topic. Every “body” is different, everyone has different dietary needs, and not everyone can absorb the proper amount of vitamins and nutrients that a high raw diet has to offer. I take a vegan multi-vitamin, B12, and veggie D3 as well.
I chose to try this way of eating after suffering from some pretty severe digestive issues - and while gradually making the transition into raw foods I found that all of these issues disappeared. I can’t even tell you how much of a relief this was, because for the first time in *years* I was actually able to eat and enjoy my food…and feel great afterwards too. The other benefits from this way of eating for me personally have been kind of limitless. I’m an average sized women (not skinny), and fairly active - making sure that I’m getting enough food throughout the day to sustain my energy levels, and stimulate healthy muscle growth post-workout is very important to me. My main goal through eating a high raw food diet is simply this: To feel good, to love the food I eat, and to not deprive myself - if I want to eat peanut butter than I‘m gonna eat it!
My intention through AtV is not to convert people to eating raw food the way that I do - but to hopefully encourage people to look at fruits and veggies in a different way - it doesn’t have to be salad and green smoothies all of the time! We can all enjoy the benefits of raw food by eating more fresh fruits and veggies as snacks, and side dishes. If it’s something you want to explore then ease into it, and by all means feel free to ask me more questions if you’ve got em.
I hope I’ve helped quell your curiosity if only just a little bit. And thanks again for asking!
