Last night couldn't have gone any better!
I wore a new dress and a new a hat, had ridiculous hair, totally clicked with my new gal pal, danced my little tootsies off, smiled so much my cheek bones still ache...
and then there was The Chop Tops.
I seriously had NO idea what I was in store for with this trio. I've heard their music once or twice, but never seen them live.
They were SO GOOOOD. Listening to their recordings does NOT do them justice. This band HAS to be seen live. SERIOUSLY. Not only are they super dreamy (especially the adorable tatted brown guitarist with the Raccoon Tail on his guitar,
veganachos), but the high energy and quality musicianship they displayed might have made me pee my hosiery a little bit.
I don't consider myself a rockabilly girl in the least bit, but I would have to say it's one of my favorite styles of music to dance to (along with Ska) and the aftermath is almost always a bliss hangover.
They're going to be in Melbourne next May - the first time in 16 years of playing together that they've ever traveled internationally. So if you happen to live in that area (NAT & B!), I totally recommend getting out to see them - and tell 'em Eureka California says "hi". (They love it here for some reason.)
Currently sitting in the Train room with Elmer passed out on my feet. Sipping on a glass of water, listening to Perry Como, and thinking about waking D up from his nap so we can go bowling.
xoxo
